Heroes

At the moment, it is known that Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will feature six factions during the Closed Beta Test. However, the final version of the game and the complete set of unique mechanics for each faction are still subject to change.

Heroes are the heart of the entire game in Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. They lead the army, strengthen it with their skills, gather resources, and ultimately decide who wins. Each hero starts with their own initial army (the count may vary slightly), a unique specialization, fixed starting stats, and a faction class.

Detailed stats, starting troops, and specializations for each hero — check the right menu. Just select the hero you need and explore.

Hero Stats — What They Do

The four main stats grow with levels and directly affect the army:

  • attackattack — increases damage of all troops. The higher it is, the harder they hit.
  • defencedefence — reduces damage taken. The higher it is, the less you get hit in the face.
  • spell powerspell power — enhances spell power (damage, healing, duration).
  • intelligenceintelligence — increases mana pool.

Starting values depend on the class. For example, all Warlock (Dungeon mages) start with:

attackattack 0  |  defencedefence 2  |  spell powerspell power 2  |  intelligenceintelligence 3

Stat growth probabilities on levels 1–12 for Warlock (example of a mage):

attackattack 15%  |  defencedefence 20%  |  spell powerspell power 30%  |  intelligenceintelligence 35%

After level 12 — equal 25% chance for each stat.

How to Pump Stats Fast and Hard

Besides levels, there are tons of other ways:

  • Artifacts — the most powerful and flexible method. Swap gear between heroes — a weak level 1 hero can become a level 12+ monster thanks to good artifacts.
  • Permanent bonuses from map objects: , , , , , , and others.
  • Faction Laws — each faction has its own useful boosts (see here).
  • — chance to get +2/+3/+4 to all stats at once.

Leveling and Experience

Heroes start at level 1. Experience comes from battle victories — the sum of EXP from all killed creatures. Example: killed 10 creatures with 100 EXP each → +1000 experience.

Experience Requirements

  • 1 → 2 and 2 → 3 — 1000 EXP each
  • 3 → 4 — 1200 EXP
  • After level 20 — around ~20,000 EXP per level

Quick ways to gain experience:

  • — +1000 EXP
  • — immediately +1 level
  • — sacrifice units or artifacts
  • — 6,000–10,000 EXP (once per game)

Feeling dizzy from this whole map?

Don’t worry — just remember a simple rule: native troops = no penalties, roads = fast, any swamp = only with Gate of Light Gate of Light or flying. Transferring armies and chaining cities is an advanced tactic; at the beginning, you can play without it.

Don’t worry if you can’t navigate perfectly the first time — that’s okay. Experience will come, and enjoying the game is more important than any timers or “optimal” routes. Good luck on the map!
